Default oil light on dashboard turns on

I have a 94 accord LX, 2.2 liter VTEC engine that has a red light on the dashboard. I checked the oil in the engine with the oil dip stick, no problems. Any idea why the light has turned on. Can there be some other problems? Any help will be appreciated.

Is this the maintenance light? If yes, it turns red at a certain mileage to remind you to get your car serviced depending on the mileage.

You can easily reset it to green by pushing your key into the slot nearby.

What maintenance has beem done on your car?

is the light that shows that the oil need to be added to the engine . I change the oil and filter , so far the light has not come on . I read on the internet , if your light comes on it out the possibilities oil needs to be added ;sensor is bad or oil pump is bad . it is not the mainte nance light but it is the oil light , the light that shows that oil need s to be added

It is very common for the oil pressure switch to fail. You could perform an oil pressure test, but it will be cheaper to replace the oil pressure switch and see if that resolves your problem.

You can rent special socket from auto parts store to install the oil pressure switch. It's located on rear of engine near the oil filter. Car must be elevated on jack stands or ramps to access.

good luck

Also, that's not a light for "add oil to the engine". It's for oil PRESSURE, and if it lights up for real (not a bad switch) then it's too late to add oil.

Check the dipstick on a regular basis for adding oil to the engine.
