Default P/S pump belt

Decided to replace the belts on my Accord and as I was getting ready to put the P/S belt on, I noticed the grooves were flat rather than pointy like the original belt. Went back to the parts store and looked at another belt and it was the same. The belt that's on the car looks like a regular belt and meshes with the pulley correctly. The parts guy says lots of the belts he sells now days are flat with tiny grooves, and the part number is correct for the Accord. Looks to me like the pulley would cut grooves in the belt. Am I behind the times, or is there a problem here?

Are you saying the belt ridges are not there, juts a flat belt, or the belt ridges are there, but have flat ends rather than sharp-edged ends?

I don't see any issue if the only diff is flat vs pointed and same number of ridges align w/ pulley grooves.

good luck

The belt ridges are Barely there, but more like a flat belt with just a hint of grooves. It definitely would not ride very low in the pulley.

What brand belt are you getting? IMHO, if it is not a Gates belt...walk away. Again just my opinion.
