P0441 with fuel odor
Hello everyone, I have couple questions hoping someone can help me out.
My 1995 accord V6 is throw a P0441 code and I have pretty uch narrowed it down to a bad EVAP purge solenoid. But what concerned me the most is that I can smell fuel vapor outside the car and it is faintly coming into the car as I drive making me feel nauseous (and unhealthy). I have checked all the vacuum and fuel lines and nothing is leaking. I can also hear a hiss when I take off the fuel cap (I assume the tank is holding pressure and not losing pressure).
My question is, if a EVAP purge solenoid is seized shut, could the build up of tank pressure force fuel vapor to escape from the bottom of the charcoal canister (atmospheric port) leading to fuel odor? I ask this because the fuel odor is most noticeable under the car instead of inside the engine compartment. My second question is, do I also need to replace the charcoal canister?
I really need to resolve the fuel odor problem as I don't want my kids or myself breathing in hydrocarbon..
Thanks for your help.

The charcoal canister was a common part to replace but before doing so it would be best to take it to a shop that can run a smoke test on it to see where it is coming from. EVAP issues are one of the hardest things to diagnose on cars, thus the vague response. Good luck!

Take a look at my thread from about a year ago. I thought it was the EVAP, but it was something else in that same general area. Try driving you car up a ramp and sniff around under the car in front of the gas tank. You can zero in on it once the fumes starts to thin out.
