Default P1456 - Just changed my gas cap, that wasn't it

Hi all, thanks to everyone who helped with my power steering issue. I located the problem and am on the way to getting it fixed. I've had this error code for about a month now. I have an EVAP leak/problem, but the leak is not at the tank nor the motor, as both were checked out for me. I also changed the gas cap as thats the most common reason for the error code, but to no avail. I know none of you can tell me exactly what my problem is, but how can I tell where the problem might be? I'm trying to get a DIY mentality with this car as funds are low, and I really need to get an inspection sticker. But my engine light won't go off. Thanks in advance everyone

Do you live in the north, where there is a lot of salt on the roads in the winter?

P1457 is a more common problem on these cars. If you are near a parts store, have them rescan just to be sure you got the correct codes.

I do live in the northeast, in NYC to be exact, but this car was purchased in Florida then driven back. I've had Autozone and Advance do a error scan, and always the same result. Both in Florida and NY. I also notice that when I drive around, after 10 minutes or so I smell gas.

Basically what the link above describes. It doesn't effect my driving, nor is it a safety issue but I want to pass inspection and this might prevent me from doing that.

I am a GM tech and most commonly when I get an EVAP leak it turns out to be a EVAP vent solenoid. I know GM and Honda vehicles differ greatly, but that is just my .02. Kind of difficult to check without the proper scan tool, but with GM's there it a function to seal the system (force the purge and vent closed) then you introduce smoke in the system. If the vent is leaking, smoke will come out there.

I know you said you live in NYC but do you happen to drive on dirt roads at all? That tends to be the most common reason I see as to why the vents go bad, dirt gets trapped and does not allow the vent to close.
