I much prefer the code NUMBER. Sometimes the guy at the car-parts store can come up with some pretty --umm-- CREATIVE explanations.

Pretty much regardless of make or model, when you smell gasoline vapors then the issue is with the Evap system; either the cannister or the hoses are cracked and/or deteriorating.

It turned out I needed a new EVAP canister and bypass shut-off valve. Both were leaking. I figured this out by getting a smoke test done at Meineke. Hope this helps.
