Default If it wasn't for bad luck!

I wouldn't have any at all!

Working on my new, old '91 Accord wagon and tracking down a low idle problem. Following the proceedures to clean the EGR and the idle control valves and then decided to clean the throttle body.

Bought a couple cans of T Body cleaner and after removing the intakeplastic/rubber tube I began spraying into the T body.
On the first shot the little straw on the can blew off and went right into the throttle body and was gone.

I ended up having to take the entire top right off to get the straw out of the manifold but in the end I was glad because I did get to do a real nice job cleaning all the throttle plates.

Car idles much better now but still on the low side while in gear and I suspect this is the nature of the car. I could adjust the idle up but then when not in gear it would be too high. I think it best to leave well enough alone for now.

I did find that a quick drop of loctite crazy glue to glue the straw on to the can is a very good idea if you are working where the straw could possibly blow off and become a chore!

Atleast you were able to get the straw out. Most of the time I take the straw off because I dont want that to happen and for the most part after the first use I lose it anyway.

If you disconnect the intake pipe, what do you need the straw for?

Hmm.. i usually use carb cleaner... am I thinking of something different? The butterfly valve on the intake?

It's all pretty much the same between intake/carb/brake cleaner...

I've heard there is a difference btw carb and TB cleaner, but so far nobody has been able to tell me what the difference is .... and I'm too lazy to look it up ..... I don't have a carb, so I use the other stuff!
