black = gets easily dirty. plus hair line scratches are very visible if not waxed properly

white = easy to maintain, hairline scratches are not that visible, just have it waxed at least once a month to keep the white, white.

Note sure about the price (maybe between $1k and $2k?), but I would think any color would be of equal difficulty level. They should sandblast(or whatever they do-I'm no painter) all of your old paint off first, then put down a coat of primer, then paint your color of choice.
Black is definitely the hardest to keep clean and it attracts heat. However I do think it looks the best

I have a white 2000 Coupe that I got an almost $5,000.00 estimate to repaint mine, same color. There is no body damage, some slight bumps and dings - nothing major; and I was looking for a complete paint job. Now this was an estimate from Superior Auto Body, http://www.superiorautobodyshop.com/ , and although they look like a pretty good shop, I think the price is about $2,000.00 more than I want to spend. I will be getting at least three more estimates from shops around here to get a good idea of price for quality work. I am also looking into doing some work myself. You can't imagine the amount of money you can save on labor by removing and putting back on items (headlights, tail lights, etc.). Plus working on your own car should give you a sense of accomplishment. Not to say that I'm going to do anything that I don't feel confident doing, I don't feeling like messing up something just to save a few bucks, I've done that too many times before! Also, I love having my car white (tan interior), yeah, it can get dirty pretty quick, but overall it seems to hide blemishes well. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Whatever you do DON'T go with the black. As mentioned every single mark shows up and a thin single coat would be almost impossible to polish.

i'll probably end up going with white. but if i had a single coat of white and had a chip the green underneith would show up. as if it was black the dark green under would not be very noticable..

You just want to paint over your existing color? I'd suggest getting it sand blasted primered and repainted....i'm guessing 3000ish?
