Default Paint problem

I have a 2012 Honda Accord EX-l V6 with 1400 miles. I have the typical problem with the paint near the tail light lens. The Dealer brought it to the body shop hand had them repair the paint in that area. The passenger side came out perfect the first time, but the driver's side still has a problem after a second repair.

The problem now is on the edge where there was no problem before. The body shop told them it is due to blending, but when I enlarge the photo, the metaallic paint disappears and reappears in distinct lines. And, How were they able to repair the other side without any problems? I think they wet sanded too far and the paint is worn off and very thin in that area.

Any advice or suggestions? The body shop also told them they can't put any more coats of paint because it will just peel off. I don't mean to be nit-picky, but the car is brand new.

I would contact the Gen Mgr of the dealership, and send him pics and names of those who have not corrected the problem. Further, I would demand that the paint be finished to your satisfaction, not theirs, before proceding to small claims court with estimates to do the repair correctly. Before you do that, try contacting Honda corporate offices and report the dealership, and tell them that the Better Business Bureau will be involved if this isn't corrected. Thin spots in your paint will rust if not repaired.

I know it's always good to get your money's worth. But at some point, it may cost you more time and energy to get the dealership to do what you want than it's really worth. Once you have a few dings and scratches on your car, you will forget about this tiny imperfection (especially since your car is silver so this imperfection is really noticeable by only you). If you can't put up with this, then you will not be able to forgive yourself when you get that first scratch on your new car.

A decade ago I got a Gateway laptop with 3 dead pixels on it. I wrestled with Gateway for a whole month and could not get them to replace the laptop. That laptop ended up serving me for 5 good years. I laughed at myself whenever I thought about the amount of time I spent on the silly little dead pixels that turned out to be of no consequence...

But, there is no paint there and it will eventually rust

It may not be worth some people's time, but if it were me, I would pursue this until it was done correctly. I believe that winter weather in NJ can be harsh, and the chances of further damage from rust is of concern. If nothing else, at least buy some touch up paint from Honda dealership parts dept, and cover up the exposed areas.

I'm not 100% sure about your model, but the rear bumper of my 2005 Accord is all plastic so it will not rust. I have a couple of scratches and it exposes the exact greyish color that looks like your picture. Knock on the bumper and you can tell if it's plastic or not from the sound.

If that is the bumper cover, then it is plastic like accordhybridowner stated.
