parking brake light on
Hello all,
I have a 1990 Honda Accord DX with a problem of the parking brake light coming on. It has been happening for about 2 weeks and is a little intermittent. I'll notice it most when the weather is colder (mornings and nights) but it'll also happen during the day (after coming to a hard stop or taking a slightly hard turn). Does anyone know where I could begin on troubleshooting this?
Thanks

Check your brake fluid level.
There's a float switch in the cap of the brake fluid reservoir. That will set off the same warning lamp. As the brake pads wear down, fluid moves from the reservoir down to the wheels. Then you go around a curve & the fluid sloshes & sets off the float alarm.
Another popular problem is that float gets stuck & doesn't move up & down nicely. The mesh screen in the reservoir gets warped & drags on the float. Check it out.
If none of this gives you anything, it's possible the cheap switch & bracket down at the handbrake lever is bent or broken.
