Been awhile since i have been on, working on my sons 1992 accord 2.2. Water pump seized and busted in pieces and replacing pump tensioner and belts. Timing belt didnot break and no sign of valves bent. My question is I found this part in the timing cover and cannot firgure out where it goes to. I don't recall taking it out. Please help Idenify.

Thanks,
Rick

Balancer shaft seal retainer.

See this tsb for an illustration. Your year Accord may or may not be installed on the same bolt location.

No problem. Most service manuals didn't show it, as Honda found out they had a problem later and issued the TSB. The TSB was for 5th gen Accords 4 cylinders; but, in truth, the 4th gen Accords and some 6th gen Accord 4 cylinders developed the leak from the same seal area; the retainer helps to keep the seal from coming out as easily. So Honda actually stocks the retainers for 4th, 5th, and 6th gen Accord 4 cylinders.
