Is it possible to remove the PCV valve to get a noticable boost in performance without damaging the engine? I've heard of it bein done and was wondering if it would even make a noticable difference. Then again i would rather not screw up the engine, so i want to make sure it would be completely safe. Thanks in advance.

 

no its not. and it wouldnt be good for your car. it might take a while for it to do something major but why do it if its not gonna make a difference. not to be smart or rude but do you know what PCV stands for or what it does.?

I heard it from an auto machanic that I went to to help me install a cold air intake, he then told me it was elligal to have the part in my car and that i couldn't get it smogged, somewhere in there he told me about kids he caught taking out the PCV valves and drilling holes in the catalac converters to improve air flow and get more horsepower which he stated was elligal. And i'm probably wrong, but i think the PCV valve recirculates partialy burnt fuel back into the engine. Because the air/fuel mixture is warm, i though it would dampen the following combustion, so if it was removed i thought it might keep the combustion cooler and therefore more powerfull, but probably not.

 

PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation

if you run the car without it then the biggest thing you'll notive is that the engine will idle wether in park or drive around 15-1700 rpm. that alone will damage the motor
