PCV Valve, clear something up

I need something cleared up about PCV Valve. If I shake it and it rattles it's fine and doesn't need replacing?

91 Accord EX 5 Speed.

If you hear a clicking sound when you pinch the tube that is between the vavle cover and PCV with the engine running, then the PCV is ok.

You should check that there are no clogs in the hose/valve either.
