What does this sound like? I have heard it's a distinct solid sounding knock. Has anyone ever dealt with this issue? Would this contribute to being able to burn oil? How long can a car last in this condition? Thanks.

It's a knocking noise that usually goes away as the engine warms up. Shouldn't be much of a concern unless it's really, really bad.
