Default possible ignition problems?

Vehicle is a 1992 Honda accord sedan, f22a motor, manual transmission, no major modifications, 323k on the odometer, bottom end swapped at 310k miles.

While driving yesterday, the vehicle started act like it was mis firing heavily and the check engine light never came on. It lost power, started to sputter and die, and backfired. It has been smelling rich lately, checked cap and rotor which looked fine, pulling plugs next, but I'm wondering if it may need a new coil, tps, or igniter. Don't want to go shotgunning parts at it.

*edit* forgot to mention I was doing 3300 going up a hill when it first started to happen. I can push the clutch in and feather it back to running but it still continues. I would consider the fuel pump but with the back firing and running rich i am ruling out fuel delivery issues. Will check for codes tomorrow. I also believe the coil and ignitor to be orriginal, as I have had the car 2 years and never replaced them, so age is questionable.

I' move the tps down the list a bit. Yes test the coil and ICM and verify good blue spark at the plugs.

Next on my list would be the O2.

Picking up a new coil and plugs today as well as looking into a new oxygen sensor. All needs to be done anyways, but the distributor is on the spendy side. WAI offers a complete unit for 160.
