Default Possible Misfire???

Hello,

My 96 accord hesitates before making a low "popping" noise before it shifts out of 1st gear. I had a compression test. nothing. Hoses are good. I am a bit stumped at what is causing this. I am about to scan my car to see if there are any codes that didn't trigger the light.

Anyone experienced this???? TIA

Sounds are difficult to diagnose over the web.

Do you think the sound is coming from the engine or transmission?

Is this an automatic or manual transmission accord?

A flashing D4 light will indicate transmission codes, so scanning the codes is the obvious first step.

I'd also recommend checking the transmission fluid level to verify proper fluid level. When was the last time the transmission fluid was changed? What kind of transmission fluid did you use?

EDIT: One other item to check is your motor and transmission mounts. You could have a broken motor mount that is making the noise when your car is shifting gears. I'd expect an internal engine issue/noise to happen at all rpms and not just when shifting gears, so I'm leaning towards a mount or a transmission issue.

This is a 4cyl. I changed the fluid a year ago using honda trans fluid. I will check the fluid levels. No codes are coming up. I'll check the mounts...
