Default Power Steering

My wife has a 2005 Accord V6. The power steering was making a lot of noise so I figured it was the pump. I replaced the pump and it still made the same noise, so I thought maybe I had just got a bad pump. I exchanged the pump for another new one. Also, I didn’t realize that Honda required a specific power steering fluid, so on the second replacement I used the correct fluid. I also blew all of the old fluid out of the lines with an air hose. After the second replacement pump it is still making the same noise. Any thoughts?

Noises are hard to figure out on the net.
Groaning? Squeaking? Clattering?

While it's making the noise, does the steering work OK? Loose? Excessive friction?

And this belongs in General Tech (read the sticky threads in each area) so I'll move it.

Sorry about that. Thanks for moving.

It's a constant squealing noise that seems to be coming from the pump. Not a belt though. The power steering works, but isn't as smooth as normal.

As mentioned, this is a 2005 Accord. It's got the 3.0 V6 and it's an automatic transmission.

Here is the likely solution to your problem. Easy $2.00 fix.

Here's a how-to with pictures to help also. Hope it works out. There was probably nothing wrong with your original pump.

The O Ring did the trick! Thanks! I just wish I would have known that several hours and dollars ago. Oh well, you live and you learn.

Thanks again!
