Default Power steering pump

I have a 2004 v6 Honda Accord coupe when the car is running it feels like there is no power steering fluid going to the pump the car also makes a whining noise when running. Anyone know what the problem is?

Low fluid level? Bad pump?

I have a similar complaint about the recently replaced power steering pump in my 2000 Accord EX sedan. I'm sure that the replacement pump was generic and not particularly high quality. And, I also got a power steering flush. The mechanic says that he uses Honda fluid. I hear a hum / whining type noise coming from the power steering while driving. Mechanic says that the power steering pump is fine. Could I ( we ) just be hearing a normal noise that the power steering unit makes while in use ? Maybe transfers up the steering column ? Maybe just a cheaper noisy power steering pump ? I don't know. Just thinking out loud. I'd like to find out for my peace of mind.

We had a whine develop in our 2004 approx 2 years ago. The cause was a slight deterioration in the O ring allowing air to get into the fluid. Under a buck for the part, easily replaced.

There's several videos on YouTube describing the whine and o-ring solution described above.

Edit: See my post in this thread https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...g-noise-64577/

There's a couple videos on the o-ring fix, as well as power steering noises. Hopefully helps a little.
