Angry Projectors with HID

Hello all,

I am new to this site. I feel as though you guys (and gals) would be the best to get some input concerning Halo/Projector/HID lights. I own a '99 Honda Accord, 8000k HIDs, and my left Headlamp Assembly just broke on me. Both high and low beams shoot straight in front of the car, deemed useless. I am planning on buying a pair of projector housings (http://www.kbcarstuff.com/Honda-Acco...lhpacd98tm.htm) and my main question is this: Will this projector be compatible with my current HID bulbs, or will I have to regrettably order a new kit that will be sent already installed(?) or with a new kit that will fit. My friend told me that my current HID's will fit inside the assembly just fine, but I dont want to drop $200 unless i know for sure my current HIDs will fit nice and snug in their new home.

This whole ordeal of not knowing what to do, or what to buy has gotten me quite peeved, sooo..

Hope to hear from you,

-Sean

most likely your bulbs will fit in the new housings.
However, worst case is you will need to buy different bulbs but be able to use your ballasts.

That's what I was thinking, but it wouldn't really make much sense if I had to buy new bulbs. They're the same size as my old Halogens. But thanks for the feedback!

You should be able to use the same bulbs if they're the same length but not longer, some cheap ebay HID bulbs is a little bit bigger and longer in sizes and also the aftermarket projector headlight housings sometimes not prefect fit comparing to factory made. You might have to give it a little help to make everything fit, i ran into that before.

I bought my HIDs online from a reputable website, so I think it'd be safe to assume they're the normal size. And help them fit how? Like jamming it in there, or somehow making them smaller or bigger?

well I bought some cheap HID housings from someone on CL
I had to do a bit of drilling to get the bulbs to fit correctly.
I do not think you will have any troubles with yours, however, they look to be high quality.

Sometimes you have to do a little modification to make it fit and looks right because they're not factory OEM parts. Let us know how the the new headlight set working out for you.

Hello friends,

I got the new lights in working perfectly, minus the HID lights, (they burn at to high a temperature and would damage housings) and only have one small problem. With the lights that i purchased, the daytime running lights are on constantly. These are the lights all the way to the left and right of each respective housing (they're yellow) and they serve as a blinker and just plain yellow running light. the driver's side running light works, and is active constantly, while the passenger's only turns on when i put on the right blinker. I've checked, and its definitely not a fuse problem. My stepdad and I are stumped. What do you think could be the issue.. Wiring? the bulb is in working condition because i put the passenger amber bulb in the driver's side.

thanks!

Those are projector housings
designed for HID bulbs
The ad for those housings mention using them with HID bulbs about 5 times.
Why would you think you could not use HID's with them?
For the last 8-10 years I have added HID bulbs to every motorcycle and car I have owned (many) plus a few of my friends cars. Not one problem from 'hot bulbs'
You need to run HID's in those projector housings, it is what they were designed for.

That is completely untrue. I've been using these aftermarket lights for 2 days now, and they are brighter than my HIDs on my old lights were. My old HIDs were too big to fit in, so I'd have to order new HIDs from the company that made the housings; that is just too much money, quite frankly. I'm fine with the halogens for now. If they were designed for HIDs, then why do these housings not fit conventional bulbs? My old bulbs were by no means cheap or off Ebay, they were quality brand products.
