Question about Intakes and Filter

Question about Intakes and Filter
I was having a discussion with my buddy about intakes and wanted some other opinions.
1. Which is better? Short ram intake or K&N drop in filters (for everyday driving with the occassional spurt of road rage, )
2. For intakes, is there a difference between a no name $50 intake and a $150 brand nameintake? If so, is it significant?
Thanks guys!

RE: Question about Intakes and Filter
1. Short ram is better IMO. But it will be louder.
2. Cheap intake is OK as long as you do not use the cheap filter it comes with. Buy a K&N, AEM Dryflow, or something comparable.
I doubt a lot of people are going to answer you since this has been covered a lot. Use the search function

RE: Question about Intakes and Filter
I'll humor you with a brief answer but yes there is a TON of information about this topic if you just click on search.
1. Short ram adds more HP (slightly) and about the same economy gains compared to a drop in filter. So SRI is better for gains
2. Brand names tune their intakes for optimal performance and will aid in slightly better gains over a no namer, but not enough for a daily driver to be of consiquence. The biggest difference is the CARB exempt sticker.
3. As stated for a DD (Daily Driver) just get a $40 e-bay bomz intake and buy and AEM or K&N filter, best bang for the buck setup all around
