Default Radio Code

Bought a 97 with a working radio, but no code found. I know I will be changing battery or some other reason to de-power . Is there a way to pull the radio out enough to get the serial number without disconnecting the harness?

Go to ahm-ownerlink dot com
Register with the car's VIN.
I'm pretty sure you can get the radio code there, as long as it's the original factory radio (hasn't ever been replaced).

Also you can remove the ashtray and the ashtray holding bracket [3 phillips screws]
Then with a flash light and inspection mirror you'll be able to read the numbers on the label that is on the bottom of the radio case.
Then the Dealer Parts Dept. can get you the code.
