Default Rain gets into '89 Accord

[&:] My '89 4-door Accord leaks rain into the trunk. A prolonged rain soaks the carpet in the footwells inside the car also. The car has never been in an accident and the door seals seem ok. The leaking occurs when the car is sitting. Any ideas where rain is getting in?

Hello I am new hand have had the same problem for a while. This can be a real problem especially since the ecu is close the the floor on the passenger side. Once wet this will cause your car to die or u will need to dry it out which is bad. This rain comes through bad seals usually the trunk or passenger door area. check for indentations along the seal, doors, trunk sunroof ect. replace seals or use clear rubber silicon to fix bad spots.

hopefully this helps u

Actually, I have finally found the post deserthonda. Mine is an '88 tho. Your instructions only apply as early as '90. Basically same approach for an '88? BTW - my issue is a damp back seat base on the driver side. Damp in the trunk too. I am just assuming it is tail light gasket gap, but if other ideas appreciate any thoughts.

A question, what trim level-DX, LX or LXi and how many doors.

Four 8 mm nuts hold the tail lights on. From inside the trunk look at the four corners of the lens. You should see them, a deep socket will make it easy, without it is time consuming. Four nuts off, disconnect wire harn, pull lens out-towards the back of car. Clean body surface,,,,I personally apply a small amount of sealant to both sides of the gasket, and re-install.

I asked about trim level as the LXi 4 dr with sun/moon roof add the drains into the picture???
