Default Rear Brakes Replaced by mechanic - Sway Bar links now missing?

I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX and recently had my rear brake pads and rotors replaced (the calipers were not replaced).

Two days later, my car started squeaking when I would brake, especially when I went in reverse. So I brought the car back to mechanic and of course they did not find anything wrong and thought my front brakes were going.

I left there (without getting my front brakes replaced and still squeaking) and my car started to make a loud clunking noise coming from the rear when it would go over bumps. I looked under the car and noticed that both sway bar links are gone.

Now, I obviously need to confront this mechanic, but I am wondering...

Do you usually remove or loosen the sway bar links to replace the brake pads and rotors in the rear? Is it possible that they did not put them back on? Or did not tighten the sway bar links and they fell off? Or did they just steal them?

Thanks in advance!

There is no need to remove or loosen the sway bar links to replace the rotors or pads.

You can take it back and try to play dumb. Say you have a new clunking noise... See what they say?
