Default Rear bushing need replacing

Hello, I own a 2000 Honda Accord SE, 4dr, automatic. I recently had an oil change and check up. The guy told me i needed the bushing replaced in the rear on the passenger side.

I was hearing a noise in the rear so I was not surprised. It sounds like something moving around in the trunk. Not a squeak but a thump.

The guy put an estimate in my hand for $285.00. He has listed the bushing as costing $55 and $20 for a kit. The estimate only calls it a rear bushing, so I have no idea what bushing.

MY questions are:
a) If I do not repair it, what other damage am I doing to the rear end? Will the wheel fall off or can I just ignore the noise by turning up the stereo? I do not drive the car hard. Slow and steady works for me.

b) Is this a reasonable cost($285) to replace one rear bushing?

Thank you in advance for your help

bye for now

G

It will probably drive for a long time as is. However, it's better to repair as this may cause other bushings to wear prematurely.

No way to know whether $285 is reasonable w/o knowing what bushing is needed. If it's the stablizer bar bushing or end link, that's a bit high.

There are quite a few bushings, so lots of possibilities.

good luck
