Default Recommended Parts Brand for Brake Pads and Rotors

I am would like recommendations on what parts brand / manufacturer I should use to replace my brake pads and rotors on my 2011 Honda Accord EX.

I am not looking to go with cheaper parts. Nor, do I want to go with super high performance parts. My EX with the 4 cylinder engine is hardly the race car. I just was an OEM type part that is better than the crappy OEM rotors.

I have traditionally used genuine Honda parts for my Honda and Acura maintenance and repairs, but in this case, I am hesitant to use Honda OEM rotors because the original rotors on my car warped soon after I purchased the car (new from the dealer). The car has always had a slight shimmy when the brakes are applied at highway speeds (around 50 – 65 mph).

I am afraid I will run into the same problem if I go with Honda rotors as Honda does not have a great reputation for fixing design problems. I may be going out on a limb assuming this is a design problem, but I know the brakes were never harshly applied when I first got the car, and the shimmy seemed to exist from day 1. My mechanic informed me of the rotor warpage when he took the car for a test drive.

I have had good experience with Honda OEM pads in the past, so I have no issue going with them, but if anyone has a recommendation for a brake pad they like better than Honda, I would appreciate hearing those recommendations.

Regarding the rotors, can anyone recommend a replacement rotor they have used and are happy with?

Thanks in advance,
Dean

Centric rotors, especially the better ones with the painted hat and edge/cooling vane area are great.

I've used Akebono pads for my 92 accord and it's still good after 100k miles of driving.
