Default Removing Motor and trans for first time

For the guys here that have done it.

How long did it take you the first time?

I am working by myself and started today.

I was wanting to have it out in a few hours but it is a lot of work.

I was thinking 5-7 hours

I am 3 hours into it and seems like much farther to go still.

My first time took a while, as you haven't learned everything yet. But as with everything with practice comes efficiency.

By now I can take out the old engine and install the new one is less than 4 hours.

I am at 5 hours right now and am stuck on getting the ball joints separated.
I have a ball joint fork tool but it is not getting them loose.

The only things left are getting the drive shafts out and removing all the motor / trans mount bolts and then I should be able to lift her out.

I got 2 more hours that I can work today I really hope I get it out.

aw you saved the worst parts for last. Don't be afraid to be rough will the ball joint separator.

For me the axles are always the worst part, do you have a really big strong screw driver? or even a crow bar?

Well I tried something that I have never done...
I pulled out a propane torch and heated up the ball joint bolt for a min.
Then I hit it with the ball joint fork it it popped right out.
I did the same for the Passenger side as well.

nice, not a terrible amount of time. Just think of the money you saved yourself as opposed to sending it to a shop!

What is the reasoning behind removing the engine?

The Auto trans blew

I bought a 5 Speed Accord with a blown motor.

I am going to swap in the 5 speed trans for less than $200 total (that is the goal)

I'm gonna save you some time money and headache on your 5speed swap....

Go to summitracing.com/

Parts to order….

RUS-641431
AER-FBM2610

EAR-63010172ERL
ATM-2266

That will make life easy so you don't have to swap all the hard lines for the clutch. Now this does eliminate your damper. But I have never noticed the difference with it missing in all the hondas I have drove without one.
