Default replaced '09 accord OEM battery w/ oiptima red top group 35. Hold down too small

The battery fits fine in the holder however the hold down bracket is too tall. What can I do to make it more secure or is there a universal aftermarket one I can purchase? Dot hey make a rubber strap or any kind of strap to replace that metal bracket?

I've moved this to General Tech, we don't use the DIY section for questions like this.

Just so I'm clear...the title and the thread text are confusing ("too small" and then "too tall"). Are you talking about the metal brace that goes on the top of the battery that the two "J Hooks" attach to at the top of the battery?

The problem was that when the metal brace was screwed down all the way it was not holding down the battery as the Otpima seems a bit shorter than the OEM battery. Resolved the issue by folding a sheet of rubber and placing it underneath the hold down bracket. Works great. Thanks for the help!

Ok, I got it now...I'm the slow one around here, sorry.

The rubber as a spacer is a good idea. If over time you notice the rubber wears or is not doing its job anymore, you might look into getting shorter "J Hooks" for the battery. Back in my day we sold "J Hooks"/battery hold down bolts in different lengths.

Good idea, didn't think about that. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks again
