Replacing center console 1997 Accord

Default Replacing center console 1997 Accord
I'm replacing the trim piece around the radio/transmission shifter. I have it loose but I am having problems getting the cigarette lighter to let go. How can I undo it without breaking the plastic trim? Also how do I reinstall it to the replacement trim piece?
