Replacing the ECU in a 96 Accord
The ECU in my 96 Accord is giving me a code for a part my car does not have. So, my check engine light will not go off without replacing my computer. I have read that many ECU's have immobilizers and would need to be reprogrammed by a Honda dealer.
If I buy a used ECU for a 96 Accord will it need to be reprogrammed? How much will it cost to have it reprogrammed?
Thanks for your help!

Before replacing ECU, suggest resetting ECU (pull BackUp fuse in underhood fuse box for 20 secs) and see if same code returns.
Poor power supply (bad alternator) can sometimes cause unusual codes to display.
Share the code number (Pnnnn) not the code name.
good luck

So then you will not have to get the ECU reprogrammed.
P0715 is for transmission speed sensor

How does the transmission shift?
When is the last time the trans fluid was drained and filled with Honda Z-1?

Sorry the code is actually P1108
I just replaced the old fluid with the Honda Z-1 because my transmission started failing. That is when the P0715 came up...which I have read most likely means my transmission is shot. I wanted to make sure my ECU was working properly before I replaced the old transmission though.

P0715 is a code that can be readily fixed. It's an electrical fault in the mainshaft speed sensor; connector, wiring, or possibly TCU.
On 94 Accord, the code for MSS is obd1 code 15 which advises to first check sensor resistance (400-600 ohms). If out of spec replace sensor. If ok, the connector, wiring, or TCU is the problem.
Code 1108 is a valid code for OBD2 Honda's and likely yours also. It's a barometric pressure sensor fault. The sensor is built into the ECU, so ECU should be replaced if this code persists. Check ebay and car-part.com for a used unit. Probably < $50.
good luck
