Default Replacing Positive Battery Cable Assembly on a 2011 SE

Hi everyone,

New member here, decided to sign up because I can’t seem to find any information online regarding my issue. I did a search and found one thread that seemed to be related to my problem, but it ended up being about a different issue than what I’m experiencing so I’m hoping to get a more definitive answer. The members here seem very knowledgeable and civil compared to most of the other forums I’ve browsed so I decided to sign up for this one.

Vehicle: 2011 (8th Gen) Accord Sedan, 2.4L SE

Situation: Recenty the car has been having a really hard time starting, when I opened the hood to check the battery there was quite a bit of corrosion on the positive battery terminal. I used the recommended baking soda/water mixture and cleaned off as much corrosion as I could and removed the positive connector from the battery (I did disconnect the negative cable first). When I went to move the positive connector out of the way to pull the battery, the connector snapped off right where it comes out from the red terminal cover. I’ve seen several recommendations to cut off the bad connector and replace it with one from the auto parts store. Unfortunately the corrosion got all the way up into the wiring connected to the terminal clamp, so there wouldn’t be enough slack in the wiring to simply replace the connector since it’s already a pretty tight fit as is. I ordered a complete positive battery cable assembly (Honda part # 32111-R40-A00) that should arrive this coming week.

My question is, is there any kind of resource online explaining, or does anyone happen to know the procedure for replacing the battery cable assembly? The cables running to the fuse box are straight forward enough, but the cable running to the starter motor seems to snake under the intake manifold. I’ve searched on Google and YouTube for the procedure, but all I’ve been able to find are instructions for replacing the negative cable, replacing the terminal posts on the battery, or replacing the battery itself. I went through automotive trade school so I’m pretty capable of DIY repairs/replacements, but I’m concerned about what may need to be removed to access the connection to the starter. I’d like to do the replacement myself if possible, but years ago my professional toolbox setup was stolen during a garage break in so I’m limited to the driveway with basic tools. Is this replacement something I would be able to perform myself with my limited toolset? Or would this be a case where specialized tools or a lift would necessitate bringing in to a shop? Thanks in advance, and I apologize if this was covered somewhere already despite my searching.
