Default rotors

I have a 2004 5 speed accord. I have had to turn the rotors twice in 55k miles. Is there an affordable aftermarket rotor that may hold up better. We drive a lot of highway miles and don't put any unecessary strain on the brakes regularly.

For some reason that seems about right for two sets of rotors..what do you other members get out of your rotors for the miles?

Bed-in the brakes next time.

Find somewhere you can do this without being stupid in traffic.
Brakereal, REAL HARD from about 50 to 10 mph - DO NOT STOP.
Drive around so they cool down for 5 or 10minutes.
Do it again about 6 times.

Warped rotors are usually not really warped. Brake pad material transfers to the rotors unevenly. Whats especially bad is holding the brakes at a red light when theyre real hot. After bedding them in like this, they seem to tolerate normal use much better.

My '98, w/ 96K mi., still has the original front brakes, never touched the rotors or the pads. And when I put my summer wheels on last April they still looked to be ~1/8" or a bit more.

I'm convinced that a lot of rotor warpage has to do w/ unevenly torquing the lug nutswhen putting wheel on the car.

Usually rotors never need to be re-surfaced --- unless they are mis-treated by poor braking habits or failure to replace the pads prior to metal to metal contactwith the rotor.

Believe it or not.

Brembo blanks. About $40 each. Way better than OEM.

Not true for everyone, not for all the time. Depends on a lot of things.

Different pad material causesdifferent amount of wear to the rotors. And the biggest thing is driving habits.
