Rpm
I have a 1987 Accord DX carbureted 2.0. When I snap the throttle the rpm is slow to return to regular idle. You can see the throttle shaft slowly return to it's idle position. This car is a vacuum hose nightmare. I have found a few bad hoses and replaced. The rpm is still slow returning to idle. It's cold here and I'm running out of daylight. Any help, Thanks.
You may want to pull off the snorkel to the throttle body and clean both sides of the throttle plate and the edges with carb cleaner. Carbon buildup could cause the throttle plate to close slowly and not seat properly.
I can't tell from the parts drawing.... but 1987 might be in those years where they purposely prevented the throttle from closing quickly. Maybe a dashpot at the throttle shaft bellcrank, or sometimes they do the same thing with internal vents controlled by suddenly-high vacuum.
The idea is that carburators give a lot of extra fuel when the throttle is suddenly snapped shut. Emmission regulations forced them to do these kinds of things until EFI control got more sophisticated.
