rubbing noise while in reverse
I have a 92 accord m/t. Car makes rubbing noise while backing up. The noise is coming from left rear tire. It happens only while backing up. It is not a grinding noise. It is like a rubbing noise mixed in with the sound of chalk screeching across chalkboard in a way.

I would check the brakes on that tire, make sure the brakes fully release when you take your foot off the brake pedal. Also make sure the rotors aren't warped..
This truthfully sounds like the belts on your car are loose.. thats the noise they usually make

Maybe not releasing? Sometimes the steel backing-plates of the brake pads is tight in the caliper bracket. So the caliper releases, but the pad is still rubbing.
The chalk-squeaking sound is a real good description of the little metal wear-indicator tabs rubbing against the rotor. Sometimes they start doing that when there's still 2mm of pad material remaining. You might have to take off the wheels & get a good look at the inboard pads.

i thought maybe not releaSING CAUSE IT ONLY MAKES THESE SOUNDS AFTER I HAVE PULLED IN FORWARD AND PARKED AND THEN PUT IN REVERSE. it ONLY MAKES for a few feet. so if i keep driving in reverse it wont continue to make these sounds. Sorry for caps.
