Default ruff warm idle

ok i have a 96 lx 2.2l when its cold it idles fine when its warmed up it idles like crap. only at about 400 rpms you give it gas and let off in park while idling it almost dies out. it has new spark plugs, water pump, belts, battery, and new gaskets for the spark plug sleeves. Oh and i did find a vaccum on the throttle body that was messed up and lookes like it took sand in it for awhile but i cleaned it all and and replaced and sealed everything its alittle bit better idles about 500 rpms now but still like crap. it also has the check engine light one for the o2 sensor heater one

I'm a bit confused. Why did you have a vacuum leak? I didn't understand the sand part. How did you fix it?

Pay close attention to the rpm scale on the tachometer. The lowest mark is zero, then the next mark is 500, then 750, then 1000. The 250 rpm mark is skipped. With this in mind, tell us the rpm at idle.

Recheck your codes and post the actual codes on here. Maybe a new code has popped up?

On the throttle body below the throttle cable. The vacuum line was bulged out and clogged with sand and lookes to buildup from coolant. I took off the little cover where the vacuum line connects to under the throttle body cleaned all of that out. I just bought this car. it has idled low since I have had I figured it just needed a tune up I ended up having to replace the water pump it leaking out of the littlepee holes. The car idles fine when cold as soon as it starts to get warmed up the rpms drop from little over 1500 rpms or so, to just under 500 rpms. Out of gear when u rev the engine it revs up just fine but when u let off the gas it drops the rpms down to like nothing and almost dies out there has Ben a couple of times it has shut off. When its in gear its ok (no weres near as bad) I did unplug the throttle position sensor and it really didn't change anything I don't know if it could be bad. For as far as the codes go its was for the o2 sensor the heater one or something like that I hope this is better for you thank you for any help. Please bare with me I'm using my cell phone

Sounds like that "line" is the coolant line that goes to the IACV? Got any pic's?

A good cleaning of the TB never hurts anything - be sure to get both sides of the butterfly. An old toothbrush, a rag and a can of carb cleaner and go for it. There are two "ports" on the firewall side of the TB - be sure to get some cleaner into both of those.

Ok. the sand is dried up salts from the coolant.

The one thing you want to clean is the hard metal lines that connected to the clogged coolant tube. That assembly housing the two hoses is the FITV. There is a procedure to clean that valve.

One other simple test is to start the engine with the TB installed and the intake snorkel removed. Then cover the lower port inside throttle body with your finger. If the idle stabilizes, then you found the problem.
