"S" light on in '91 Accord and 125 miles from home!
nypito - I have my camera with me, but the cord to connect it to my laptop is across town! The wires were closer to the glove box than the floor, underneath a black plastic covering. Now the darn car is stuck in Park!
I merged your threads.
1. Does the brake lights work?
2. You may want to jump the service check connector and retrieve any stored trouble codes.
3. It can be related to the transmission control unit. You may want to pull the TCU and open it up to take a look for burnt resistors and/or blown capacitors, like in the link I previously posted in this thread.

It can be related to the brake light switch, TCU or wiring, as the brake light signal from the brake switch has to go through the TCU to the interlock control system. See attached circuit diagram.
If the brake light signal doesn't go through the TCU, the shift lock relay (which is inside the interlock control unit) won't energize.
The first image is the interlock circuit system diagram for the 90-91 Accord. The second image is trouble shooting procedures for the 5th gen Accords when the shift lever cannot be moved from Park with the brake pedal depressed (the 5th gen Accords is similar to the 4th gen Accords in this respect).
Btw: There is no need to detach the battery terminals for at least 4 hours to reset the TCU. Resetting the TCU is either removing the fuse for a certain period or by disconnecting the negative battery for 5 to 10 seconds.
