Hey guys i have a 94 Accord EX 5speed and my Service Engine Light comes on after i put into 5th and am at low RPMS or im just crusing.....it flashed code 12 at me which is the "Emission and EGR" i replaced most of the tubing i can see going in to the EGR valve and i went ahead and replaced the EGR valve it self because i thought it would fix the light... but it didnt... i did reset my battery but it still comes on anyone have the same problem ... i dont feel a problem but i dont want a SEL on either .... anyone have any ideas??

 

Have you checked the egr vacuum control solenoid? Does it click when you give it power and ground?

 

go straight to cleaning out EGR passages and valve. That should take care of the problem.

 

Not very likely on a 94, they dont test for egr flow. The only thing it looks at is the valve lift sensor.

 

Just so everyone is clarrified on what i said earlier... i did replace the tubes i can see going into the EGR valve and i recently bought a new EGR valve.... where can i find this selinoid?

 

or the vavle lift sensor??

 

It's on the left shock tower. The valve lift sensor is built into the egr valve.

 

so if i actually replaced the EGR valve shouldnt this have fixed the problem??

let us know if you still got a problem with code 12........If so,, i will help you to a step by step diagnose .. DO not keep on replacing parts till you diagnose it and repair or replace the part ONLY that is needed ..
