A buddy recently did his water pump change...Forgot to mark the cams and everything.

So now we are trying to time it from scratch.

I just need to know where to set the front side cam pulley for this. It has 1 to 6 for marks. tried lining up the 1 line with the other pulleys at their appropriate timing marks, but it binded after spinning everything around once.

Should this pulley be at 1? Or another mark?
I would really appreciate any help with this. I dont like lending him my car until his is done!!!
