Default Shift issues - plus more

Hello,
I woke up this morning and got into my car to go to work and noticed that I couldn't shift out of Park gear. I had to manually override the gear to get out of gear. When I did get out of gear I noticed the following as well:
Turn signals were out
speedometer is out
gasgauge is out
Powerwindows are out

What do you think is going on? Do you think I need to change the fuses?

Check all of the fuses? Do the brake lights work?

I think I read a similar post here a few months ago. I believe there is some sort of safety switch on the shifter mechanism that is linked to the brake light switch...Meant to only allow a shift out of park with the brake pedal depressed/brakelight switch on. As for the other issues, begin checking fuses and relays is my best suggestion. Is there a common relay for these problems ?

I'm not sure. But I am going to look into to it. Thanks for narrowing it down and now I know what to look for. I will tell you how it turns out. Thanks so much for all of your assistance.

What year is this? Most have a fuse that covers most of these, so yes there is a common fuse controlling several of the items not working,,,,,but again the year will help...should have asked that the first time as well
