shift linkage removal

RE: shift linkage removal
remove the 10mm bolt that hold the lever into the tranny , but first you need to unlock the lock tab,, get a small scredriver and a hammer, tap on the little tab so you can get a 10mm socket into the bolt . remove the bolt, then pull out cable with lever,, then you can remove the cotter pin and disconnect cable from lever but only if you need to replace the shifter cable ,,if not ,, leave it as is , it will be much easier to reinstall

RE: shift linkage removal
Thanks, now the next question, all the nuts are off of the exhaust manifold, bolts off the pipe to the cat, but the manifold will not break loose. I have whacked it a few times with a good sized hammer, but I don't want to hit it too hard and crack it. Any suggestions? Thank You

stop hitting it with a hammer,,,,there is a bracket on the manifild held by 2 , 14 mm head bolts, that mounts to the block, you need to remove those , also assuming you got all the nuts from the manifold to head out ,,
but if you are removing the exh manifold , why take the bolts out from pipe at cat?? why not remove the 17 mm head nuts that attach frt pipe to manifold ?? that would be the easiest way

RE: shift linkage removal
I pulled the bolts from the cat because I need to drop the engine/trans to replace the engine. I didn't know that there is an extra bracket on the exhaust manifold. Too accustomed to working on American iron, I guess. My first major project on a Honda and it is NOT going well. Thanks
