shift problems
2000 Honda accord v6 automatic. Shifts into drive and has a intermittent problem not wanting to advance rpms to be able to drive. Can shift to neutral and rev engine but shift back into drive and push gas and looses rpms like your putting on the brake to come to a stop. Only happens every once in a while. Sometimes a few days in a row and then drives perfect for a week or two. Already changed transmission fluid 3 different times. Any help would be appreciated . 2000 Accord ex v6 sedan automatic transmission.
Definitely sounds like a transmission issue based on your description.
Did your old transmission fluid have a lot of particulates or metal in it when you changed the fluid? What transmission fluid did you use?
Does the CEL turn on or the D4 light start flashing when you have the shifting problems? Regardless, you should scan for engine/transmission codes. If you don't have a scanner, most parts stores will scan for codes as a free service. Just post the codes on here.

Old fluid was very dark in color but no particulates or metal. Used Honda DW1 fluid. No cel or flashing D4 ever, did a scan and no codes. This car drives great and shifts like it should 95% of the time which makes me think it’s an external problem like components that govern it’s operation. I bench checked the two solenoid valves for operation and they appear to work. Is there any hardware I could check?
Cleaning the screens for the shift solenoids and the dual solenoids can't hurt. Look for any debris inside the solenoid that could cause it to stick. There are some youtube videos on how to clean them.
The internal hydraulics are not easily accessible and hard to diagnose. The other issue could be the clutch discs are worn and there is really no fix other than a rebuild.
