Default shorted wiring door lock? Help?

a little back ground that may or may not wind up being relevant: someone tried to break into my car and they messed up the window on the drivers door. Instructions seem easy enough so I figured I could fix it myself but the weather had been bad and I don't have a garage. I can guide the window up all the way and just hadn't been opening it. So I took it to a shop for some unrelated work and after having told them several times not to touch the window, they went ahead and did just that and then left the car out in the rain a couple hours. The next day, my battery had died.
I am assuming that I have a short in the wiring some where. I replaced the blown door lock fuse (only one I know of;located in the engine compartment fuse box) with a new one and it immediately blew again. I removed the drivers door panel, hoping for an easy visual problem, but I didn't see any burns etc, just water. Its dried out by now but there is still something wrong somewhere.
Any ideas of where to start would be much appreciated. So far I've only been able to determine that there is a power drain. Test light between negative cable and post lights with positive cable removed and fuse keeps blowing. Any advice is much appreciated.

On the wagon, the power door lock control unit is located under the driver's seat. Check that area. Water may have gotten on the unit, etc.

thanx redbull! Its pretty irritating that my Haynes doesn't mention this anywhere, even in the troubleshooting section! the wires and connectors visually look fine, I didn't feel any water tho it is entirely possible that it has dried off the outside by now but still damp on the inaccessible inside. call me reckless maybe, I plugged in a used computer(?). black box. and now fuse is holding and now im off to check for power drain and possibly test the alternator.

You're absolute sure bet would be to get the factory wiring diagrams and trace the circuit.
