Hey everyone! I just got back from a road trip, and part of it was driving through some steeper hills in WV. I noticed while I was driving, the car would barely accelerate. I pulled into a rest stop and saw there was white smoke coming from under the hood. Though there wasn't a huge plume of smoke it was definitely noticeable. I turned the car on, and the smoke came through the vents. It didn't have a distinct odor like burning oil, exhaust or trans fluid. It just smelled hot, if that makes any sense.

I checked the levels of everything, and they were all normal. The coolant was just above the 'MIN' line, and I didn't notice any leaking at all. The rest of the trip was through flat farmland and all was well. No smoking or leaking.

I should note that I did do an oil change and a 3x3 ATF change last week.

Could this be a gasket issue?

 

No Check Engine Light?

Perhaps you spilled some oil which has drained to exhaust manifold, or valve cover gasket leak allowing oil to reach intake manifold.

Also check PS for small leak, particularly on high pressure hose.

Suggest monitoring fluid levels daily until something is clearly indicated. Also look for oil drips on the floor above parking spot.

Thanks for the response! There hasn't been a CEL. Oil temp was normal as well. I'll keep my eye on that and report back soon.

 

Check coolant level at the radiator- not at the overflow jug as if your coolant system isn't working correctly then it may not be doing anything with the reservoir. An overheating engine can cause a decrease in power. And an overheating engine can be caused by leaking coolant or air entering the system.
