Default Speedometer not working

I have a 97 2.2 DX Accord and the speedometer is not working.

I figured it was the speed sensor on the tranny but then I started to read on here about it and I'm not 100% sure if thats it.

The cruise control is not working, milage counter hasn't changed since it stopped working, and there is a check engin light on. That came back as the O2 sensor out but I replaced that and it's still on.

Any thought on what I should attempt to change?

Check for codes.....without those and based upon your description. Sounds like the VSS or the wires to it are bad.

No speedo and the cruise (that worked before this) now does not....that duck is the VSS or wires.

Automatic transmission??

Seems like a bad VSS would through a code in the check-engine light for a manual-trans car. But an auto-trans car the VSS would throw a code in the D4 lamp instead. Is that D4 bulb burned out?
