Yes, I had it checked out and confirmed it needs a new SRS unit. Where is the SRS unit exactly located in a '95, iIs it realtively easy to get to and replace?
I can get one on-line for less than $290 the dealer wants $560 parts an labor to replace... I said no thanks.

Where is the SRS control unit located, beyond the center console? Can it be reached without removing bunch of things? I'd like to the job my self now that the dealer pissed me off!!
By the way, on a safety item like this, I'd rather spend the money on a new Honda genuine control unit than take a chance with a used one.

Download the 94-97 Accord manual from hondahookup.com (see link on DIY page), and all will be revealed. It's behind the glove box is my recollection.

Thanks, sorry I should have done a better job of search.
The instruction is very nice, but I have one question. Given that I plan to disconnect the battery cables for at least 15 minutes before touching the SRS Controil Unit do I still need to short out the driver and passenger airbag plugs, as the instructions seem to require? Why would airbags go off if the SRS unit is disbaled ?

Working w/ an airbag is sorta like working w/ a live hand grenade. Would you want to handle one just making sure you hold the trigger closed or pin the trigger closed to be sure? People have been killed by accidental air bag release.

Update:
Got thegenuine Honda SRS control unit for $230 and ittook me ~ 35 minutes to install it. The SRS light now goes off after the initial 6 seconds or so of illumination.
Here is what I did:
1. Disconnected the battery cables and waited 15 minutes.
2. Shorted the steering wheel air bag, using the red clip in the access port under the steering wheel, I did not bother with shorting the passenger air bag, as it requires taking the whole glove box out.. I am not convinced this step is necessary, if you have had the battery disconnected long enough..
3. Pulled back the carpet on the side of the center console, by driver's right foot ( gas pedal) and passenger's left foot to expose the control unit.
4. Unclipped the 18-pin yellow connector from or the Control Unit (I also unscrewed and took out the ground cable) and pushed theABS cabe aside.
5.Using 6mm torx driver took out the for screws holding the CU in place (two on the driver side, two on the passenger side), after which the CU assembly easily slides out.
6. Putthe new unit in, scrwed it in, connected back the 18-pin cable, reconnected the ground, reconnected the air bag cable under the steering wheel, pushed the carpets back in place, connected the battery cables, turned ignition on, thelight came up for rougly 6 seconds and voila it then went away
... and saved myself $340 (my dealer wanted $570).
... Now if only the ABS light was as easy to fix!
