Standard oil filter?

Standard oil filter?
I used to use Fram oil filters because they were a good brand. But in the last year or so, I heard they are not the same company that was good back in the 80's and 90's.
So, what is the standard oil filter for Honda? Or at least good brands for 1998 Honda Accord LX, 4 cyl, automatic Tran.

Fram makes good filters, very good filters, and crap filters; if you buy one of their better filters you'll be good to go.
FWIW, I'm not particularly a fan of Fram filters but I use them on both my Honda Accord and my Acura TL. Why? Because the filter locations on those cars is less than optimal for an easy R&R of the filter, and the better Fram filters have a nice grippy surface which makes it easy to get an old one off.

I've used regular Fram since about 1975 until a few years ago when I read things on the internet... Never had a filter failure but you know if you read something on the internet then it must be true.
Used Purolator "ONE" filters for several years now. Supposedly a lot better, and with just a little bit of shopping around they're not much more money.
The Saabs have long oilchange intervals with synthetic oil (not the case for your 1998). Started using Mobil-1 or Purolator "BOSS" filters when they come as a package sale deal with the oil.
I know people who seem to never remember to change their oil, so regardless of what filter you buy you'll be better off than that.
