steamy exhaust question
Hello I am a 2 week owner of a 190,000 mile 1 owner 97 lx sedan. 4 cyl. non vtech auto trans. The car runs great so far, I have driven slightly over 1000 miles. 28mpg last fill 90% interstate @ 68 mph. I just noticed while being followed on the road, I can see steam or moisture from the exhaust, in the rear view mirror? This was all the way home last night. I drove 40 miles. I would think it would burn out all condensation after that long of drive? I parked it and checked it out, it looks and smells like normal exhaust moisture. It was 6-8 degrees last night.I don`t know much about Honda`s but It seamed weird to still be steaming after a long drive like that. It evaporates in the air pretty quickly. I will check coolant today. It maybe normal? Are head gaskets an issue on these 2.2 motors ? Thanks for any insight, or knowledge on this subject.

i recently bought mine, and a bishi tech went with me to look over my accord...
he had me hold my hand maybe 3 or 4 inches away from the exhaust tail pipe while he hit the gas a couple times...
he said let me see your hand, nothing on it but steam, water vapor, whatever... he said looks good...
Im guessing he was checking to make sure she was not blowing black stuff out exhaust.. burning clean etc..
try that, nothing there is good.... and its cold as hell outside, prolly just the heat hitting the cold air..
I deliver papers all night in mine, and after 2 or 3 hours I still see cloudy misty hot air coming out... it was like 12 degrees last night
