Stereo Prolems PLEASE HELP!!
I have a 2001 Honda Accord EX. I recently disconnected the battery cable and now my stereo is asking for a code. I bought the car used and there is no manual and also the stereo that was in it was bad so the used car place had it changed. I called the local Honda dealer and they are wanting $95 to pull the stereo,(which I can do myself) and give me the code. Is there ANYTHING I can do?? PLEASE HELP

I ran across this link. It looks like its a factory reset. You may have to bring it in, $95 sounds harsh though?

NO NO NO...... Dont pay good money! I had thesame problem only the used car I bought the orig radio was bad. I bought an original used Honda radio from a friend who removed it from his daughters wrecked Honda before it was hauled off to be crushed. I plugged it in and it read CODE...... I was stumped until I read some threads in other bbs. What you do is take either your title and drivers license and photo copy them together or else your registration and license. Call your nearest largest Honda dealer and tell them what you need. Ask them for a fax number and have the serial number off the removed radio ready. All they want is to verify you actually own the car. They want the VIN number and the radio serial number. After I faxed the info they wanted the very nice Lady I talked to called me back within 2 minutes of sending the fax and gave me the code. Then you just turn on the radio and when it says code you use the preset radio buttons 1-6 to enter the 5 digit code. Its simple. Trust me. Then write the code in several places so you won't loose it next time.
Good Luck
Good Luck
Minor correction; You push the 1&6 buttons and turn on the radio and the number that displays is the "REF" number they need to get the actual code.
This function is on newer accords.

Thanks for the help guys (especially hondadude) I was able to get the serial number without having to pull the radio. I contacted a different Honda dealer and they was able to get the code. Thanks for all the help. My wife is really happy now.
