Default Strong gasoline odor

I removed the EGR manifold to clean it the other day. I wasn't completely clogged, but dirty. Anyway, the next morning the car has a strong smell of gas. Didn't drive it that day. Got in it to drive to work today and it was hard to start. Runs fine, but has a strong gas smell. Had to leave it in the parking lot while I am on a trip, so I did not get chance to check it out. Anyone who has done this, what do you think? DId I pinch an O ring when I put the fuel rail back on or crack the fuel line when I pulled the rail out of the way. I looked briefly under the hood when I parked and didn't see anything wet, no pools or dripping gas.

I had a failed fuel rail/injector oring when I did this job. I found I had to feel for the leak.

Get new orings for all injector/rail connections and use a good oring lubricant (nylog is great stuff and a tube will last a lifetime).

good luck

Turned out to be a leaking injector O ring. I must have pinched it when re-installing the fuel rail after cleaing the egr manifold.

I started to leak so badly that I ran out of gas on I-10 last night in the middle of nowhere.

Anyway, a new O ring seems to have fixed the problem

Now, to get rid of that nasty smell.
