i have a 93 accord ex-r and when i start it it struggles sometimes. One time it wouldnt start but was trying to. i popped the hood and everyting seemed fine then i got back in my car and it started. any ideas as to what problem i will soon be facing?

 

i have a 91 accord ex and i still cant figure out what is wrong with mine. it turns over and over and then finally starts. people have mentioned the fuel relay sometime sticks due to hot weather. i replaced it and it wasnt the problem. maybe you might want to look into the fuel relay to see if thats your issue. you have to turn the key to the on position and wait to hear 2 clicks about 2 seconds apart. and listen for the fuel pump to run.

 

Be more descriptive when you say that is was struggling to start.

Was the starter turning the engine at the normal speed? Or does the engine run rough and want to stall when it fires up?

 

I own a 93 accord 10 ann. Mine would crank, but it wouldn't start. other times it would start ok. After some serious trial an error someone here suggested that the fule relay in accords from back then were notorious for having problems, specially if the car sat in the su for a long time, I finally removed the relay, resoldered the joints, and my car now starts better than when some old lady drove it out of the lot 16 years ago. If you have no idea what I'm taking about, be afraid not, when people started to tell me to take a look at the relay, I didn't even know where it was located. By the way, A new relay will cost you around 60-70 bucks. But you'll still have to get the old one out and install the new one in. Most auto mechanics will tell you relays go bad and they can't be fixed, but go to walmart and spend $10 on a soldering gun and some solder and do it yourself. The only sother tool you'll need is a ratchet with a 10 mm socket on a long extension. Before you start working, disconnect the negative cable from the battery and depending on the usual crap one encounters when doing this kind of thing, be ready to work on this project anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Getting to the main relay will be the most difficult part of it, everything else is easy. You'll find the original post under my name if you need to refer to it. Work on this now, because it will only get worse until the car will simply not start and depending on where you are when this happens, it can be really expensive.

 

I keep having the same issue, the car will crank but wont start. this happened 2wice since i posted this thread. when i jiggle the alternator wires it fires up. do you think it might be the alternator or starter?

 

is the engine light on?????? or has it ever come on recently????? if so check the codes.
