System update on EX without using HondaLink
Hi- we've had our Accord-EX into the dealership three times now in order for them to update the system. We can a message on the main dashboard display (not the audio display) that says, "System update is available". When we've brough it in, I think all they are doing is cancelling the actual notice of the update, then the notice pops back up about a day later.
This issue has been elevated to the highest levels at the dealership and they are still working on it. Their mechanics initially told us to log onto a WIFI network for the update, yet our car's interface has no screen in which to input the logon credentials for a network. Apparently, they must mostly be working on higher trim levels of this vehicle where such a menu exists.
The source of update signal is also something for which they can't figure out. Our car is obviously getting a wireless signal from somewhere in order for it to even know that an update is available. I'd guess it's probably a satellite signal of some sort. What can't that same signal be used to download the udpate itself?
They've suggested using HondaLink but I refuse to do so due to its aggregious privacy policy. Nonetheless, that requires a subscription anyway and it would be ridiculous to have to pay to keep the car's firmware updated.
I have an account on the Honda Garage page where it has excerpts from the manual to the car. The section that pertains to this whole update situtaion includes the pages for the hybrid version of this car. So even Honda corporate is getting this situation messed up.
Has anyone else encountered this issue along with a solution?
Super thanks!

What year accord is this?
I wonder if the altert is on a timer/maintenance reminder timer that needs reset vs an external satelite/wifi signal? Was the dealership able to update the software to the most current version with their scanner?

It's a 2025.
They 'turned off" the notice on two occasions but it came back right away. I don't believe they ever updated anything.
The notice gets displayed on the main dashboard, and I think they intially thought the notice was being displayed on the audio unit. They can't even tell me what the update is supposed to be for.
They never told me what their scanner is showing. This whole problem is quite outrageous. The service manager himself had to go into their showroom and see what the display looked like on a similar model as ours. This is one of the largest dealerships in the country and their mechanics and service manager seem to be super confused.
They kept telling me that they have WIFI at their dealership and that our car should update itself when we pull into the service bay. I kept asking them how our 'car' would know the network credentials to log onto their network and they coudn't answer that either.

The dealer got back to me today and said his Honda rep doesn't have any answers other than trying to use HondaLink. HondaLink is intrusive with its privacy policy and also requires a subscription fee. He didn't even know what the content of the update was about.
I really can't believe that they have no way at the dealership to update our vehicle.
