Default Test EGR Valve 03 - 05 Accord

Does anyone know a way to test if the EGR Valve is working properly on a 03 Accord V6?

Maybe there's a way to put some voltage to it and visually check if it's working.

Or maybe there's a driveable test.

Thank you.

Are you getting some sort of error code for the EGR system? If so, what is the code?

I'm getting no error codes.

I have a slight ringing/pinging when I lightly accelerate up hills and sometimes on flat ground.

I've lost 2 - 3 mpg that I think is attributed to this.

I have PCMScan and can run any test and get any data you may need to help me solve this. I'm at your disposal for information.

I am not familiar with PCMscan and its capabilities.

On newer accords, the EGR valve is electronically opened. I also think the ECU can determine that the port(s) is plugged up.

If you can have the scanner open the EGR valve when the engine is idling, the car should stall out if the ports are open.

I haven't heard of the 03+ accords having plugged EGR ports from posts on here, but it is possible. I am not sure if the 03 intake/EGR setup is like the 98-02 V6 accords.

I had my EGR valve out earlier today trying to clean it and see if anything visually was wrong. I poured some cleaner down into one of the openings (not sure if it was the in or out side) and it started to leak out of the gasket between the body and the activator which opens the valve, obviously the gasket between the engine and the body was in plain sight since i took the unit off. (I can upload pics if it makes a difference)

Anyways, are these things supposed to be air/water/solvent tight on both sides, both the exhaust and intake side....or the exhaust gas in side and the out to intake manifold side?
